  • In the United States, about 23 million adults (1 in 8) suffer from substance abuse.
  • Each year more than 12,000 Americans die of alcohol and drug-related causes.
  • Approximately 18 million adults (1 in every 10) are alcoholics or abusers of alcohol.
  • 53% of men and women in the United States state that one or more of gheir close relatives have a drinking problem.

  • 25,600 the cost to house an imnmate in the California prison system for a year.
  • 15 average age that Beacon House residents first began using alcohol or drugs; 41 average age of residents today.
  • 100% of men coming to Beacon House are unemployed; 98% are homeless.
